No MEPS in CinCinCity?

Good luck & don't bust too many buttons off of your shirt because of pride.

Maybe you can keep them honest. I couldn't even accompany my son back 7 years ago. I had to do all of the clean-up after the fact using the 1SG good old boy network. Trying to tell my son he could be a Ranger when they were making him a 19D! (The 75th doesn't have any 19D slots). Had I been present at that time I could have nipped that in the bud immediately & I'm sure that's why they didn't allow that.

I know you mentioned which MOS he was interested in but it slips my mind (at least what's left of it). Now what was I saying? Oh yes. I'm pretty sure it wasn't FA or any other Combat Arms MOS. I told my son that I didn't carfe what MOS he wanted but I advised him to either go as hard core as he could or as highly technical as what was available. He always favored the extreme physical & action-packed. The Rangers was a no brainer for him & wouldn't want anything short of Airborne Infantry at a minimum. I did not encourage him either way but he said that my standards influenced him. That's enough to make me proud & humble at the same time.

Did he prepare for the ASVAB? Did he study for the physical exam? Turn your head & cough. Bend over & spread your cheeks. Etc. :D

Let us know what happens, Guns!

His MOS will be 42A Human Resource Specialist. Sadly the MEPS in Cincy went away several years ago.
They wouldn't let me in for the sit down with career counselor. He originally had a slot as a 25M lined up. That was a Poppa string pull. Unfortunately, he come up red/green color blind. So he settled for the 42A MOS.
I was surprised he wanted to join. I figured he would go to college. My son, is the one I figured to join the military, but he was accepted into a college and he will be going there. I think the job will be a good fit. He is more of a admin type.
He's not really a ground pounder type. When he was younger, I would take the boys camping, he preferred the hotel we would stay at on the way to the camp site. He can handle it though.
The wife is handling things far better than I thought she would. I guess watching me over the years has callused her to this.
By this time tomorrow, he should be bald and sleep deprived.
It'll be good training.

Good for him! Not all Soldiers should be Combat Arms. Look how many of them are needed to support just one Infantryman or Artilleryman.

When is his ship date?

When is his ship date?
Glenn, he shipped from MEPS this morning. He had to sit at the Columbus airport from about 11:30 until 6:15 this evening. The USO was a big relief, he told his mother they sat there until the USO closed up.

Have you gotten 'the call' yet?
Not yet. He called before he boarded the plane. He told his mom he would call when he went thru the gates at Ft. Jackson. I think he should have been there by now. Probably getting dusted!

Awesome. Shoot, I wanna go back. Relaxin' it ain't. The cadre did right with the new shoot out house and Training Course for Soldier's that teaches immediate Adversity and builds character real quick. It's awesome. I can't wait to go back. Good Luck! to you you're son. Congrats and all.. Hooaa,...

That's fast work, Guns. I kind of suspected that. Normally there's a waiting period between signing & shipping. Just as well to get it all over with. Either way the 'cruit will be in a fog regardless if they're in the DEP for a year or leave immediately.

The boy was able to call his mother yesterday. The call was kind of a sneak in I think. He said he was still in reception and that their phones weren't taken yet.
He was to be picked up by their D/S today and then game on.
Waiting on the call home with an address. That'll settle momma down some.

Hey Gunbunny, just curious did he do Reception at Ft. Jackson also? My older son enlisted bout a week ago, going to Jackson for Basic but they told him 1 week at Gordon 1st for processing then Jackson for Basic and back to Gordon for his AIT.

He's doing everything at Ft. Jackson. Reception, Basic and AIT. Then on to the big green machine from there.

That's weird Tx Mom. Babygirl didn't go to Gordon til after Jackson BCT grad. Gordon was really backlogged when she was there (her class was accerlerated). Maybe it has something to do with that? ???

Great that she got a call Guns. Tell momma not to worry. It could be a few weeks until she gets an address. And tell her kudos for raising a patriot.
