PV2 Scott here and I'm leaving for Afghanistan in the next few days with the 101st 4th BCT. I'm finally getting my chance to get over there and actually do my job rather then waste time back on Rear D.

Trooper, since you are going to be a replacement; expect time to assimilate with your unit and learn from your NCOs.

Thank you for the hopes and prayers. I love the unit that I am in and have all the faith that the guys around me. As a replacement I've been told that there will be a period of time that I will be getting some "special treatment" but I'm ready to get over there and do some work. As stated above I am 11B Infantry.

Scott, don't worry. Be smart and try to think like the enemy. Your weathered NCOs and experienced Officers on the spot will help you survive this assignment. The Taliban are not wizards. Actually, if one thinks themselves into their mentality they are easy to defend (like all enemies). The trick is to be brutal. That is a language they use themselves and understand well.

Coming up on the end of deployment now, this deployment has been one hell of an experience, I've won, lost, and learned a lot since I've been here and I am now ready to get home to my family.
