Default From a future soldier... what is it like?

Hello, new member here. I'm only 15, I'm only in the 10th grade, but I am determined to join the US Army Infantry after school. But I want to know, what is it like?

Thanks to the wonderfull magic of the internet, I can kind of get a glimpse of what I will experience when I join from videos and such, but nothing beats talking to actual people. I know the stages of BCT, then AIT, then deployment. But what was it like for some of you to have experienced this? Getting to basic, meeting drill sergeants, becoming a soldier, and getting deployed. I'm an Army freak, and can not wait until after school, and until that time I'm trying to learn as much about my future as possible. I'm working out, eating everything in sight, drowning myself in milk to hopefully grow more than 5'6" and 112lbs, I have had trainging with an M4-style AR-15(though weapons training isn't my biggest concern at the moment.), running, doing situps and pushups, and doing everything possible to strenthen my mind mostly.

I would just like to know what the Army experiance is like, thanks.
    -Zachy

You're on the right track to becoming a Soldier, Zachy. Keep it up.

Military experiences are varied & it's hard to tell you exactly what you'll be doing in several years. It depends on the unit that you're in & the conditions at that time.

Keep your nose clean. No trouble with the law, stay away from people who use drugs, stay away from alcohol & tobacco. Get your H.S. diploma.

Infantry uses the OSUT concept for initial training. BCT & AIT are run together as one class. Same place, same people, same Drill SGT all the way through Infantry School graduation at Ft. Benning, GA. If you have an Airborne contract you'll be sent across post to Airborne School right after graduating for the 3 week course.

Continue your research. Stay abreast of any changes that might come about in the next several years & don't be afraid to ask questions.

    Cool, thanks Glenn.

Anybody have any stories to tell of their Army experience?

I am a future soldier, but have not been to basic yet... Exactly what the guy above me said, keep your nose clean. I had to get a consult or (psych evaluation) because I admitted to drinking 10 drinks in high school. I have not touched alcohol much since high school but they were afraid I was an alcoholic... But I had to answer over 700 questions about my life.

But yes, don't break any bones, get a lot of speeding tickets, no burglaries, or anything like that.
