E5 Promotion board and a suspended clearance

Please help if anybody knows the reg concerning this matter... I was scheduled to go to the promotion board in 4 days ffrom now and my 1SG pulled me because my secret clearance was suspended. Must one have a valid clearance if ones MOS requires it inorder to 1) GO TO THE PROMOTION BOARD and 2) TO BE PROMOTED. I am currently in Iraq and have sent my packet to reenstate my secret clearance but that could take a few months. Please help...

You cannot be on the promotable list if your MOS requires a clearance and you don't have it. Therefore your 1SG did the right thing and did not let you go through the board only to get a DO NOT RECOMMEND from the President of the Board.

Get your clearance and go to it as soon as possible.

There are many MOSs that require a secret clearance if you're an NCO, even Infantry.

I've pulled several from attending the SGT & SSG board when I was a 1SG. The rules are very specific. I didn't enjoy it but I had to do it.

Take care of your problem & apply for the next board after it's rectified.
