Default X-mas Exodus and Time After AIT

I am taking the time off from BCT at Jackson for exodus. I am taking 18 days. My AIT is 26 weeks, so from January to August (8 months) I think that I will accrue 20 days. If I'm lucky I won't be "in the hole" anymore after AIT, I could have two days, or I could have -0.5 days still, depending on when the days start counting. I am wondering if I will have the opportunity to take time off after AIT. I am looking to take 10 days, or even just a week, after AIT to see my family and perhaps get married. Will I be able to get time off after AIT? Will I go back into the hole? Will they even give me time at all after AIT? To go back into the hole would be okay, I just need an answer because I'm trying to plan out my life.

Going in the hole on leave is a pretty typical situation after basic and AIT, and there is normally no problem with doing so. HOWEVER, much will depend on when your AIT class starts. If the schedule allows, there should be no problem with you taking leave between basic and AIT. Taht may not be the answer you're looking for - but that's what I have to give. Good luck!

Actually I'm looking to take leave AFTER AIT. That's what I'm wondering about.

You could always do HRAP. I was in the same boat as you last year. After OCS I did HRAP and moved on to my next assignment. Used 0 days of my leave.

Great advice!! I have taken S-Rap two times already. Once after my deployment and then when I was going to WOCS.

Anyway, I have over 50 days of leave and cannot wait to burn some lol.

Yeah but I don't think I qualify for HRAP because I'm in BCT right now. I also didn't get approval from the commander before leaving Jackson. Could I just go into a recruiter's office on Monday in my uniform and say I'd like to do HRAP during Exodus? Would my commander/drill sergeants approve of that or would I simply be wasting my time and they will just throw away the paper when I get back to BCT?

Yes, That's what I did, after graduating BCT, My mom and pop signed me out and we headed home. I called my recruiter SGT Chapman on the way home and explained that I had a fourteen day window to come home and work. I had no problems and reported back for AIT two weeks later ..that's just me, it could be different for other Soldiers, it all comes down to how you're contract reads with you're reporting dates. I'm glad, I did it, when I reported for AIT, we had to wait eight weeks for our class slots to open up. We did PT and Army landscaping work for two months. lol..

The base is so large it has its own 'neighborhoods'. These include: 'KBR-land' (a Halliburton subsidiary company); 'CJSOTF' which is home to ' the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force' and is surrounded by especially high walls that is, according to The Washington Post, so secretive that even the base Army public affairs chief has never been inside.

I was told by my SFC that he has NO CONTROL over who gets HRAP. It is solely in the hands of your DS's. HRAP is AFTER BCT/AIT. You usually get up to two weeks of leave anyway after AIT, but HRAP would add another two weeks to that totaling up to 30 days of leave.

Many Soldiers get approved for HRAP during their exodus, so it's not just for AIT. Most commander's are not going to approve 30 days of leave after AIT. That being said, with the number of trainees going home (you should have seen the buses and Soldiers lined up around FLW the past couple days), many don't get approved during EXODUS). The norm for leave before signing into a new duty station after AIT is 10 days. All leave is subject to commander approval.
