Default Question about prior service reenlisting

I was discharged back in march of 08 with a general under honorable conditions and an RE-3 code for misconduct. It was for underage drinking and I got into a fight while overseas in Korea and the SGT Maj. saw me and I got busted and they decided to discharge me. I was in for almost two years. Its since been almost 3 since I got out. I am of legal to drink and alcohol is no longer a problem with me. I changed greatly over the few years and am wanting to get back into the army. I want back in so bad!! I would do anything to get back in. I desperately want back in. I don't care what mos i have to have or if i get a bonus or not I just want back in because I love being in the military. Other than that one mishap my conduct was far better than average. So what I'm trying to get at is there any chance I can get back in?? I was talking to a reserves recruiter and he said he could probably get me in on a waiver but I didn't have my 214 on me at the time and was trying to get the courthouse where I had my 214 filed to fax it. And he said he would give me a call after he got it. But haven't heard back from him since. I've talked with the courthouse and they said they faxed it. So I'm wondering is there a chance??

With an RE 3 I wouldn't hold out much hope. It's hard enough going back in as prior service with a totally clean record but if the Recruiter said there's a chance for you he must know something.

+1 to MSG Glenn. My husband was honorably discharged in 2001 with a code RE1 and he wasn't able to reenlist as they weren't taking prior service at all. I understand that they have now opened it up for a few select MOSes, but again, with RE3 I wouldn't hold out much hope.

No chance, RE3 for misconduct there is no waiver for active duty right now, the Reserves sometimes are a little more lenient and even more so the NG...I hang out with the Reserve Recruiter a lot and I know he turned away a guy with a RE3 for misconduct last week...good luck.

@mesummerlin: what MOS's are they offering for prior service?

if anybody has anything beneficial to this topic please comment.

MCPlck2006 posted a list somewhere else on the site- and he would know, he's an active recruiter. I don't know- other than that 35T (what my husband's MOS got reclassed to) wasn't on the list.

There is a thread with all the jobs the ARmy is letting people come back in with, YOU MUST ALREADY HAVE THAT MOS, if you dont you cant come back in, besides you have an RE3 t hat prevents you from even worrying about MOS right now.

I don't really care what MOS I get as long as I get back in. I dont care if I go 11B. I wouldn't mind it either. Right now I dont care if I get a bonus or not, what MOS I get and what not. I just want to be back in.

And I am telling you that if you do not have one of the jobs in the list, WE WONT GIVE YOU A DIFFERENT MOS! You either come back on the MOS you had (if its on the list) or not at all.
