I'm pretty sure that our member Matt is a LT at Ft. Drum but since we haven't heard fron him for awhile I'll bet his at a different location for up to a year.

Since Ft. Drum is about as far north as Milwaukee I can tell you that it's cold alright but only in the winter. Winters last from about October to May, LOL. We had a record breaking cold June & a record breaking hot July so if you look at any temperature averages it'll probably read "normal".

Good luck in your shutdown mode, MP, LOL. I'm sure you're looking forward to getting out of Recruiting duty otherwise you would have put in to continue doing it. Back to the "real" Army.

I'm going to pull some strings and keep you talking to high schoolers, you're needed much more at these forums keeping us updated on the current recruit requirements, than somewhere else.

No thanks needed, I got your back SSG.

My father retired out there a few years ago, Watertown. I've been out there and it's one of the most BORING places around. Most of the action happens across the border in Canada since it's under an hours drive. The off base housing isn't too bad in the surrounding areas. My father actually rents one of his homes out to a Sgt. stationed out there.

I'm at Drum getting my TDY on as we speak. I can tell you the weather is awesome.. right now. Highs in the low 80s, low 60s at night. Coming from Ft Bliss (100s+), this place is heaven for PT. Now I've heard horror stories of winter up here and from what I've been told it can get pretty damn bad.

Watertown doesn't seem bad if you have a family. Very country home town feel... has a mall, the usual restaurant chains etc. I'm digging all the green coming from the deserts of El Paso. Hopefully going Kayaking this weekend.

Once MP leaves recruiting duty USAREC is going to hell in a handbasket.

With him gone I'm going to have to hit up some of the local Recruiters for sources of information. All of my recruiting buddies have been reassigned. I went through gallons of coffee with them but got lots of info in return. I'll have to see if I can "tame" any of the new guys. Many use the same barber as I so it might be easy.
