    Default Airmen in Ranger school?

    Hi all.

I was recently watching the Ranger School episode of "Surviving The Cut".

And I noticed when all the candidates were in the pit wrestling with each other there was one candidate with Air Force style ACU's.

Do they let Airmen into Ranger School?
Do PJ's have to attend Ranger School?

The candidate I am referring to: Surviving the Cut - Ranger School - Part 1 - YouTube

Or am I just seeing things?

Al branches of the military except for possibly the Coast Guard can go to Ranger School. The Navy sends SEALs there, the Marines send Force Recon there, & the USAF sends PJs & TACs there. I don't believe it's automatic, though. The unit has to have a need for one of their men to be sent there & there has to be an available slot. The Army has the majority of slots but slots are reserved for the other services. A USAF TAC that is assigned to support Rangers & go along with them on missions has to go to Ranger School to be assigned to the 75th Ranger Regt.

I hope I answered your question.

The Coast Guard sends some of their Special Missions guys there. The BCT cycle I was helping with a few months ago had a Coast Guard E-6 that was Special Missions - still hadn't made it through Ranger School thanks to two different injuries.

The cover story on the most recent issue of Airman magazine is about an airman that went to Ranger school.

Not really the first time a zoomie has stepped foot onto the Darby Queen or earned the coveted Ranger Tab.
