The Call of Duty\Battlefield generation seems to be obsessed with what gear you'll be wearing and\or allowed to wear once you join the Army. So here it is in one place. Be advised that what you wear can (and will) be dictated by your Chain of Command - everything from your E-4 Team Leader, to your O-6 Brigade Commander. Some things (i.e. helmet, vest, etc.) are not up for negotiation unless you're a Super Secret Squirrel. Also, this stuff is constantly changing - I'll update things when I get the chance. Or not. Depends on my mood.
- UCP (Universal Camouflage Pattern) is the current standard issue uniform for the US Army. Your uniforms as well as TA-50 (gear - i.e. ruck sack, ballstic vest, etc.) will be in this pattern.
- OCP (Operation Enduring Freedom Camouflage Pattern) - also known as Multicam - is the pattern issued to Soldiers deploying to Afghanistan.
Army Combat Shirt: Meant to be worn under body armor, it helps reduce heat and prevent chafing. It is only meant to be worn under armor. (Pictured is the inferior Rotcho version, couldn't find a good picture of the Massif.)
IBA (Interceptor Ballistic Armor) or OTV (Outer Tactical Vest: This is the older of the two types of ballistic vest used by the Army today. It opens in the front, and has places to insert ceramic SAPI plates in the front and rear (will stop up to a 7.62). It has MOLLE webbing to attach pouches to.
