Thread: Overweight and ETS

    Default Overweight and ETS

Wondering if anyone know if a unit can hold a soldier past their ets date for being overweight? Obviously, it's my situation. I have no article 15's, never been late for or missed any formations, never lost any rank or had anything negative against me. My unit is just threatening to do it, so I was curious is they could. I wasn't able to find anything about it in regs so any help would be appreciated.

I've not heard of a unit holding on to Soldiers beyond their ETS for not making weight. Not that it's impossible. Just to be on the safe side try losing the excess poundage. This is not the time to get in trouble of any sort. You don't know what your future will be. Maybe you'll decide to come back in sometime or join a Reserve/Guard unit. Don't say it won't happen. I came back to the Military 14 years after ETS & even spent a year in the Reserves right after getting out.

Negative! And if someone tells you something like that again, go to IG.
