I don't know what to make of the second link, except I really want a "P-5000 POWERLOADER". Why can't we make things like this now?

to be frank I don't much like the M113 desings in general. Their main goal was to be cheap no nonsense airportable APCs with questionalbe A for "armored".
In today's battle field they cant really cope that well. (armored personell coffin)

the aluminium box by Food Machinery Corporation, does have one advantage though you can parachute drop it. which is in some cases awesome tactical advantage.
the main problem being that if it comes across anything bigger than small arms fire it might soon be in trouble.. but thease situations are usually rare nowadays i'd imagine.
in its role its one of the more economic approaches for sure.
still i wouldn't want to be in one without all of the extra armor kits slapped on.

I'm with the Chief on this one - the APC from the movie Aliens was much cooler .
