    Default Experiences on a M577?

The M577 looks awesome. Can anyone relate their experiences on one of these or the other M113 variants?

I've had more experiences with a 577 than I care to remember. It was our command vehicle & the only differences between that & the M113 is the high roof & the amount of antennae sticking out of it. It makes a great target.

It's jammed with commo equipment & is normally staffed (or should I say overstaffed?) with the G-3 COL, a few other officers, a few senior NCOs & RTOs. It's not the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven or rode in.

In a mechanized infantry battalion the M577 is also used as the Medical Platoon's two treatment vehicles, while M113 armored ambulances are used for evac. I also spent way to much time in both while in Germany, Bosnia and Macedonia.

They remind me of a vehicle in an old movie called Damnation Alley.

A couple of my old rides -

M113A3 Ambulance with IFOR markings as used in Bosnia-Herzegovina during Operation Joint Endeavor/Operation Joint Guard

M113 in white as deployed to Macedonia for Operation Able Sentry (this is a Danish track, IIRC)

M577 Medical Treatment Vehicle as used by Mechanized Infantry and Armored units. (Front view)

Same vehicle as above, back view. Note litter stands set up to receive patients.

You'll note that the M577 and M113 tracks are built on the same chassis.
