    Default Hello From New York

My name is Jeremy and I have been wanting to join the army since I was a little kid. I am a junior in high school so next year after I graduate it's off to basic with me. I have been training for the past six months or so to get myself into shape for this.(used to be a big fat slob) Now I am focusing on spending the next year trying to get fit enough to max out all my scores on the PFT, and doing all the mental stuff that goes along with it like learning rank structure, memorizing everything neccesary, all of that good stuff.

Make sure that you get into the Future Soldier Program between enlisting & leaving for BCT. You'll get some PT & you'll have some subjects that you'll get at basic & even be able to enter the Army one rank higher.

Start doing research on what MOSs you're intersted in.

Enlist next winter, maybe around Christmas. You have a year that you can stay in the delayed Entry Program before shipping to BCT. Don't wait for HS graduation. That's when the rush of enlistees happens & all the good MOSs fill up fast. But make sure that you graduate.

Your a very helpful person, did you know that? Ive already narrowed it down to three MOS and seeing as one of them is Infantry im fairly confident I can at least get into that.

Welcome to AF's..That's our Top, Master Sergeant Glenn. Top, is right. It's a great pipeline for recruits going into IET. I'm nightflyer, my friends call me Night. I did what's called ARNG RSP program a few years ago. Dude, I was squared away on all aspects of our Army. I learned the COC - rank insignia- I was mentally prepared, administratively correct and physically fit. We learned how to work together as a team. It prepared recruits for a successful completion of BCT and AIT.

    Good Luck!

The base is so large it has its own 'neighborhoods'. These include: 'KBR-land' (a Halliburton subsidiary company); 'CJSOTF' which is home to ' the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force' and is surrounded by especially high walls that is, according to The Washington Post, so secretive that even the base Army public affairs chief has never been inside.

Welcome to Army Forums. Good for you for taking the initiative and looking at your options now instead of waiting until the last minute. You have plenty of time before you ship out, so keep working on your PT and start studying the Soldier's Creed, Army Values, General Orders and the Army song. Learn all that before you head off the BCT and you will be one of the most squared away soldiers in your platoon.

    Good luck

Words to memorize words to live by, and an army apft sticker will have everything you need to memorize and achieve in it I believe. Let me know if I need to add anything to either of those posts
