Default 31 year old thinking of joining...few questions

I am a 31 year old female, married, no children. I currently have 24 college credits and work in accounting/business administration. My questions are as follows:

-Are there jobs in accounting/business and are they readily available?
-If I have one of those jobs, what are my chances of being deployed?
-Would I get to see my spouse after work?
-If I were to be stationed overseas, can my two dogs come along as well as my spouse?
-How easy is it to attend college while in the army?
-Can my spouse join me immediately after AIT training?

    Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to the forum dazey79! I am a 30 year old female who just enlisted 09 SEP 2010. My circumstances are a bit different: I am married with three children (and 1 dog.) I also have completed my Bachelor of Science.

I can tell you that there are more than likely NO administrative jobs available AT ALL. When I went in to talk to a recruiter I brought a list of 15 jobs I was interested in. They varied between medical, administrative, and (my most desired) arts and media. Of the 15, only ONE was available- and now I'll be going to AIT at Ft Sam Houston to become a medic!

About being deployed: We are at war. Being deployed is always on the table regardless of MOS. Be prepared for it.

That is pretty much all I can speak to. I'm not in yet so I don't know about pets on overseas moves.

I will say bravo on beginning your research! It is a huge decision for you and your husband. Best of luck!

    My questions are as follows:

Q.-Are there jobs in accounting/business and are they readily available?

    A. I would think not dazey, if you are so interested in Accounting and Finance in the civilian world (My area in Civilian Life also) why would you want to leave it?

    Q. -If I have one of those jobs, what are my chances of being deployed?

    A. America is at war my dear, you go where the Army sends you.... and that may be deployed on Patrol with a bunch of 11X gound pounders.... sounds like fun and a break from the number crunching to me...

    Q. -Would I get to see my spouse after work?

    A. At home base where ever that is, I dont see why not after you are trained... rules slightly vary so I understand but after AIT describes most units once youre not on a course, training or deployed...

    Q. -If I were to be stationed overseas, can my two dogs come along as well as my spouse?

    A. I believe that one is a yes...

    Q. -How easy is it to attend college while in the army?

    A. MPChalk can answer that, but the GI Bill would apply Im sure... Remember to shoot for the 25m target and focus on your military training first... college comes after...

    Q. -Can my spouse join me immediately after AIT training?

    A. I believe so but its subject to verification as Im exIrish Army, and can only advise on a 3rd party basis...

    Good Luck fellow number cruncher!!...

-Are there jobs in accounting/business and are they readily available? THERE IS HUMAN RESOURCES AND FINANCE JOBS
-If I have one of those jobs, what are my chances of being deployed? THE SAME AS ANY OTHER JOB, WE DEPLOY UNITS, NOT SPECIFIC JOBS
-Would I get to see my spouse after work? YES, EVERYDAY AFTER WORK YOU GO HOME TO YOUR SPOUSE OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO
-If I were to be stationed overseas, can my two dogs come along as well as my spouse? YES, YOU WILL HAVE TO REQUEST COMMAND SPONSORSHIP FOR SPOUSE AND PERMISSION FOR THE DOGS, OF COURSE THIS EXCLUDES DEPLOYMENT AREAS
-How easy is it to attend college while in the army? AS EASY OR HARD AS YOU MAKE IT OR YOUR JOB ALLOWS, INFANTRY WONT BE ABLE TO GET AS MUCH COLLEGE DONE AS THE HUMAN RESOURCE GUY...I KNOW, I HAVE ABOUT 80 CREDITS AND MY BUDDY WHO IS INFANTRY BARELY HAS 30 SOMETHING....
-Can my spouse join me immediately after AIT training? YES.
