    Default Age limit for enlistment

Hello my name is sean I'm 36 yrs young married father of two for the last few months I've decided to join the military reserves. I've talked with the National Guard and resently as of March 20 2009 they have changed there enlistment age from 17-42 to 17-35. Does anyone know if this is true for the regular army as well. I will be able to get an anwser in the morning from my recruiter , but i'm bored so I thought I would see If I get an anwser sooner.

According to my copy of AR 601-210 page 17 paragraph 2-3 for AD no older than 42.

Of course the Army can change their age requirements at any time. I believe your NG recruiter just didnt want to bather with you. NG and USAR always takes people who are a little older.

    Thumbs up

I know I'm to old for the guard, i was just checking to see if the regular army did the same change and so far from what i'm told it's still at 42. I don't want to join the navy or CG. I should of joined 10-15 yrs ago it's Army or nothing. I would rather join and hate my decision than not join and regret no joining at all. I'm call my recruiter in the morning to schedule MEPS

The current age limitations for the AD Army may have been changed to 34, however you may ask for a waiver if you are otherwise qualified.

After a little further research I found one article that stated the age limit at 34. As most of us old hats know there is a chance for waiver for almost everything. If your recruiter confirms this please let me know so I can update my brains microchip. If it is true dont forget to ask him if you can request a waiver.

    Good luck.

    Default age limit

talk to my recruiter and the age limit has not changed for the regular army it is still 42. I set it to go to meps in a couple weeks so I can do some studing and loose some weight. It's taking me a little longer than the normal recruit, but I'm tring to work around my work schedule. Wish me luck
