    Default Separation and Re-Entry Help

    Hey folks,

I'm posting here on behalf of my brother. I pulled out his DD214 today to check into whether or not he would be eligible for re-enlistment. He joined the United States Air Force in 2000 but was separated during basic training, classed with a Separation Code of JFX and a Re-Entry Code of 2C. I've learned that with a 2C he is ineligible for re-enlistment in the Air Force but may well be eligible for entry into another of our services.

His whole life leading up to that point was predicated on serving his country and something happened that caused him to wash out of basic training. He saw a psychiatrist after the fact and is not hindered in any way of doing his duty now. He's done a lot of growing up since that time, as any man would, it's now 9 years later and he's trying to put his life back together. I feel that returning to service would be the best thing for him at this time and he agrees so I'm looking for some information on his behalf as he is currently without internet.

He'll be getting in touch with our local US Army office but I know we have very well qualified and capable men on this forum and I'm just looking for some guidance. Any help at all is greatly appreciated, thank you.

    IAW AR 601-210 Chaper 3-21 page 38 of 151 Table 3-1

Applicants with a 2C are fully eligible providing the seperation code does not require a waiver. The seperation code of JFX also equals JMB for Behavior or Personality disorder.

IAW my time as a recruiter he will need a waiver and explain the circumstances behind his characterization of service.

Good luck, depending on how long ago the discharge was he may use an easy explanation as he has now grown up a little. (of course not in my words but his own)

I think the time will help a lot. It was 9 years ago that he enlisted, he was only 17, and his recruiter actually got shut down for putting in more than 20 people while he was in our town that were booted out of basic training for reasons he told them to not disclose on their paperwork. I think he has a lot in his favor in getting his re-entry worked out. I'm very hopeful at the moment.
