Default Prior Service Trying to go Army Reserve

I was wondering if anyone could give me some info. I am prior service from the Air Force and I want to go Army Reserve. My RE code is RE-2B is possible for me to join the Army Reserves? Greatly appreciate any info.

I'm sorry to say but I doubt it. I'm not a Recruiter so I can't say for sure but getting discharged for general or under than honorable conditions (I think that's what the RE code is) dosn't sound likely to me. From all that I hear lately any RE code other than RE - 1 is not likely to be allowed to enlist in the Army or the Reserve (same standards). Some National Guard units have slightly different standards from state to state depending on the manpower needs. They use seperate Recruiters than the Regular Army & Army Reserve.

Best to check with a Recruiter. All I can tell you is that if any waivers are needed they are really hard to get these days.

    Good luck!

chiefwarrantofficer, with all do respect thats not the kind of info that i need. I'm not gay so i really dont care about them trying to re-enlist. I'm worried about myself. Any info will still be appreciated.

Dark King, I was making a comment towards MSG Glenn. I am not hijacking your thread but was just making an observation. The answer to your question is simple, go to the Army recruiter station and speak to the Army Reserves Recruiter. Show him your DD214 and he will let you know if you can come aboard. Or provide info here Locate a Recruiter | GoArmy.com

I'm sorry I didnt mean to take it that way. I've been sort getting the runaround lately. I did talk to a recruiter he told me that I would have to get it changed and the air force board is a 2 year wait, I definitely dont have the patience for a 2 year wait at all. I was wondering if you knew if waivers were being given this new fiscal year??

Again I'm not sure about the waivers but I've heard that Army Recruiting already has a big dent in their mission for fiscal 2011 & that just started on 1 Oct. Chances are you'd have to wait that long to even enlist let alone ship out. Try to start the process to change your RE code ASAP. If it takes 2 years that might work in your favor if the economy picks up by then (fat chance!) & there are fewer recruits (probably not). At this time the Army can afford to be very choosy about who it enlists. Many are being turned away.

You have to talk to a NG Recrutier in your area, as every state is different.
