    Default Ranger School?

Can you go to Ranger school if you are in the guard or reserves?

PigginOut, I don't know the answer but I suspect it goes like this: Once you are established in a unit you can put in a request for additional training. The Commander looks at your abilities (fitness) and if he believes that you can pass, he can approve your request provided he can spare you and your absence doesn't cause him any budgetary and other headaches. If you pass Ranger go to airborne also and then get the Pathfinder badge on top. Then you are what they call a 'no bullet hero' in the Army and should be good to go for the highest positions.

I think it depends on whether or not your unit is willing to fork out the dough.

if you have a good unit you'll have no issues...when i went i seen some NG guys...never heard of going from the reserves though. push for it...drop 4187's until they do send you...nothing like standing there getting the tab of gold bestowed upon you. even though the bat boys still give you shit if theres no scroll on the right.
If you don't unf*** this formation, i'm gonna roll on you like Ghangis Khan rolled on Northern Italy!

    Here is the deal,

Ranger School is offered to the National Guard and Reserves, but it will depend on your unit off assignment. If you are in a Transportation Unit you will not get any slots, but if your in a Infantry Unit there are plenty of slots available. On rare occassions if there is a High Speed Soldier in a non Combat Arms Unit they will allow that person to attend Ranger School, but the unit will have to pay. (Very Rare) Go see your S3 Training NCO and find out if there is slots available, and if not find out how to submit a 4187 as a exception to policy.
