    1. If the GED category is CLOSED, you CANNOT enlist without 15 credits.

    2. IF the category is CLOSED, and you are ENROLLED in college and already HAVE 11 credits(100 or above/college level towards degree completion) and enrolled in your final courses to complete 15 credits you can enlist then complete your classes and then ship out.

    3. If the category is CLOSED, you wait to get all 15 credits then go to MEPS to enlist and get disqualified, then you are disqualified, it doesnt matter if you took 15 credits ONLY to enlist, the Army does not have to accept you solely on that, you must be COMPLETELY qualified not just partially. So yes in theory he could get his 15 credits, go to MEPS to enlist and get diqualified for other reasons such as a medical condition, undisclosed criminal background, etc, etc, etc.

If the loans he has are federally backed, once he enlists he "could" be offered the incetive to pay off those loans (I wouldnt advice it if its a small amount as he would be giving up $51,000 in GI Bill for lets say $5,000 in loan repayment or whatever he owes).

    Hey.

So I was rereading my contract and 15E is listed as a Level Four MOS. I signed on for six years and got the Hi-Grad bonus. I was wondering, however, should I have gotten a signing bonus for the Level Four/Six-Year Enlistment?

I didn't enlist for a bonus, but my father (an Air Force officer) brought it up and I realized that I did not get the signing bonus. Did the Army cut out bonuses? A recent 2011 Army website hinted that I should have gotten one. My recruiter, on the other hand, said that if it's not in my contract, I don't get it.

    Thanks!

The Army has not cut out bonuses completely but it is very hard to get a bonus right now. Your Recruiter is correct, if you did not get it when you enlisted at MEPS, you were either not qualified for one or there was not one available for the MOS you picked. Think of it this way, did you get the job you wanted? are you happy with your job/options? The bonus is just that, a bonus on top of everything the Army is already offering you.

I am super stoked about the job I got. My dad just brought it up, so I thought I'd check it out. I would have been fine getting no bonus whatsoever. The Hi-Grad bonus is a bonus in and of itself! Can't wait.

Only way is if there is a ship out date open/available before your already scheduled ship date. You cant simply say "i need to ship in a week b/c I lost my job" and they will move your ship date to an earlier date. You have to be willing to ship as soon as 2 days after you go to MEPS to look for early ship out dates and be willing to give up the MOS you already have, bonus, any other incentives...b/c the job that might be shipping in lets say 1 week, might not have those incentives attached to it like yours did....

Yes, you would request a RE-NO (renegotiate your contract) you go up to MEPS they pull up jobs for you that ship earlier, but there is NO guarantee that 11X will be one of them. What is your reason for shipping out earlier? We had a guy that had to leave earlier as he had lost his job, his wife didnt work either and had 2 kids to feed, he went up, got re-no approved, got to keep the same job plus Option 40 on top of it (Ranger), now this is extremely lucky!!

So if i request a RE-NO and im at MEPS, they pull up the jobs and theres nothing i would like. Would i get to keep my current contract or would i be forced to pick a differeant? My reason for trying to ship earlier is my parents are moving states and they'll be staying with some family till there able to get a place of there own, So its going to be cramped in that house. So we decided that ill stay here in Cali at my aunts house till i ship out, but i dont want to be of a bother for too long. So i wanted to see if i was able to get an earlier ship date! Indeed that guy is lucky for that Option 40 but since i enlisted with a waiver and to my understanding i cant get any options with my contract !
