Default Prior Service wanting to enlist Q&A

I was in the marines for a little over 180 days and was medsepped with a general discharge. I wan't to talk to a recruiter but I want to try to get my facts straight before I talk to them. I got a reinlistment code of RE-3P when I got out. If you can help me out in anyway, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'd contact a Recruiter as soon as you can. You'll want to beat the rush of college & HS grads. The last I heard is about the only way prior service can get back in is with an RE 1. I'm sure there are exceptions but not real sure.

Good luck. Keep us updated - good, bad or indifferent.

+2 to what MSG Glenn said.. I would get onto a Recruiter for advise.. I could also try Sgt Star at goarmy.com.. The online service is also available with the Army..

Good luck and keep us posted...

You need to take your separation documents to the recruiter. I was in the Army Guard and switched to Army active and I still have to bring with my me Marine Corps DD214 from years before.

If I would have to repeat BCT, being that I was out for over three years, would I have to pass a full PT test before hand? Or would I only be required to pass the 1-1-1??

1-1-1 is what the National Guard has to test their recruits in the RSP (program) before they ship out. So no you would not. You will be expected to pass the regular APFT at your location and if it BCT's scoring then the lowest you can pass is at 50% for your age group.

My wife took the 1-1-1 before they would allow her to ship to BCT. (Active duty) this was a couple months ago. Im wondering if it differs between recruiters.... I guess in a way it is a moot point, seeing as how I want to be able to pass a full PT test before I leave anyway.

It's always a good idea to be able to pass the regulation APFT before shipping to BCT. That makes things much easier.

I agree with Top. I do not know if she would not ship if she did not pass 1-1-1 but perhaps in today's Army that is the case.
