Sorry for the waste of time...I just saw online that you have to ship off to basic prior to your 35th birthday. As I am 35 now, I guess I am screwed. I thought the Guard and Reserve had an age limit of 42. This sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't necessarily believe what you read online. Many times the information is old. Contact a Recruiter. He'll have the latest policy rules. They change all the time. I know that the Reserve & Guard sometimes have different rules than the active Duty Army depending on the need for Soldiers to fill their ranks. I went into the Regular Army at age 38 after having been out of the Navy for 14 years. Subtract the 6 years I already had served & that made my age for enlistment purposes 32. Even so I had a hard time until the Recruiters actually read the regs. They thought that 38 was too old regardless of former Military service. Once that hurdle was passed I had to face another hurdle about enlisting in an Airborne status. I was finally allowed to take the Airborne physical & pass the Airborne PT test . I had an edge because I was Airborne qualified & a combat veteran in the Navy as a SEAL.

This is the time of year where waivers are more easily approved so don't waste time by reading info on the internet. It could be right but it could just as likely be wrong. You'll never know until a Recruiter actually tells you. If a Reserve Recruiter says you're too old then contact a Guard Recruiter. Don't give up without trying & the only way to do that is to see a Recruiter.

Keep me updated & good luck!

Sorry to hear that bees.... I would keep an eye out if there's another war, but for now, I can't see the rules changing too quickly but to MSG Glenn's point, the regs might say different. I would also check the Army reserve regs to see what the current instructions are for recruiting ages for the branches.. Have you visited Army Careers: Ways to Serve in the Army | goarmy.com and talked with the online recruiter "Sgt. Star"?.. They might confirm what you have found for both branches..

    Try a National Guard Recruiter.
