Update - My Life
At this time my oldest, a daughter, & her son & 3 dogs have moved in with us due to a divorce & a shortage of money. That leaves 6 people, 4 dogs & a cat living here. My middle kid, also a daughter & her son have lived here all the while even when she was married, her & her husband now ex- husband. (my daughters are highly intelligent but can't pick men.) My youngest, a son, is a Milwaukee Police Officer & a SFC in the Army Reserve. He's married & doesn't live too far from here.
I still do a little Private Detective work but not much. After all I'm retired. I don't plan on renewing my license.
I don't do much metal detecting anymore due to a knee that's started giving me problems. An old parachuting injury more than likely. I do as much shooting at the range as I can & carry concealed all the time wherever it's legal. I can still walk okay & I do on almost a daily basis with my Black Lab who just turned 4.
Not a whole lot to say after a lifetime but I'm content with this full house, a son who patrols my area & 2 grandsons plus 4 dogs & a cat to keep me company.
My health isn't too bad. The usual aches & pains for someone my age but still tolerable. My doc has put me on a 6 month checkup from every 3 months & my cardiologist wants to see me on only a yearly basis with stress test every 2 years. All my lab tests come out not excellent but satisfactory. Nothing there to alarm them or me.
A fairly boring life but when I retired from the Army & someone asked me wanted I wanted from the rest of my life I said "bored". I had enough excitement from my 6 year Navy service & my 21 years in the Army to last a lifetime.
I'll go to my grave (sooner than later) a contented man. I certainly wish I could have passed the America I knew to my children & grandsons. That appears that it ain't gonna happen.
