Yeah, I can't believe I've had a Platoon for over seven months already. It's absolutely flown by. Sure been fun.

My son got married to his long-time sweetheart Heather on 13 October. He's well on his way through the Milwaukee Police Academy & will graduate early January. His grades & scores are outstanding & well on his way to become Honor Graduate.

I'm still walking around armed 95% of the time. It'd be 100% but since I take my grandson to school I can't go armed according to state law & to get caught means a felony charge. There was a shooting late last week about a block & a half from my house. Four wounded, one killed. I'm guessing a drug deal gone wrong. I've noticed since the election that ammo costs have gone up some. Got some Speer Gold Dot HPs a month ago for $20 a box of 20. Now they're up to $25 at the same store. I also noticed that Federal Tactical HST has gone from $30 for a box of 50 to $35. Signs of things to come? I'd better stock up. I've got some Tupperware boxes that will hold my gun, ammo, magazines & cleaning supplies. I'm prepared to bury all that if new gun rules including handgun confiscation rears its ugly head. I won't have any trace of owning a handgun anywhere on my property. I'm negotiating for my old gun that I gave to my son, a Glock 23. He told me the other day that he won't have much use for it when he's sworn in because he'll have his issue M&P 40 & his Glock 21 .45 cal for off duty carry. He said he'd buy his bride a smaller 9MM when she gets her concealed carry license.

Had a good potluck meal at church yesterday as we celebrated Mission Sunday. Those Lutheran ladies sure can cook! lol.

I'm still in the process of training my Black Lab youngster. She's about a year & 4 months old now & very bright. We walk/run at the local State Forest daily & she's really good at tracking deer without any training at all. She can go a full mile at heel without trying to pull away. All the usual dog tricks like sit, shake paw, lay down were all trained to her the second day we had her last February. I reinforce several times a week & now she can also fetch & speak but "quiet" is a bit slow coming to her, lol. The whole routine is a good exercise for me & now I've started to run again, about 2-3 miles a day with my doc's blessing. It hardly hurts my back & I know enough to stop if it starts to bother me.

Well I guess I filled some space with useless chatter. Hopefully this site will get more activity but it's certainly slow now.

Anybody else have any personal news that nobody will more than likely won't care a hoot for? lol.
Glad to hear you're well, and congrats to your son - I just celebrated the "real" wedding reception this past weekend (not counting the courthouse one in Sept).

Missouri has a great law on the books that considers your vehicle an extension of your house (ie private property) - you can legally carry in your car on school grounds, etc. The instant the firearm leaves the vehicle, you're in violation, but at least you can go that far... if you can get the ear of a state rep, might be an idea to float. What do you carry?

I just got my orders to ARSOF Career Course at Bragg w/ Airborne enroute. I'm hoping to get to a free state and purchase a handgun before prices go through the roof. Currently compiling the shortlist of ones to try once I can get to a rental range.

Congratulations on the ARSOP Course, Sir. You'll like Bragg, lol. And Airborne along with it not surprisingly. I hope you didn't take that courthouse wedding seriousll, LT, lol. Now the REAL one should take.

I carry a S&W Sigma 40VE, a Glock 23 knockoff. Smith got sued by Glock for having a nearly identical copy (I think even parts were interchangeable), made a few minor changes, mostly in the trigger & settled for an undisclosed amount out of court. I had a Glock 23 which I gave to my son & am not cheap enough to ask for it back. The Sigma is considerably cheaper & all I could afford. I still want to get a Glock one of these days. My son's best man, another former Ranger, told me he'd send me a G23. He had a few drinks under the belt - no,make that quite a few drinks so I won't hold him to it. He comes from a very wealthy family - his dad's a cardiologist & they own a hotel or two in Tampa & land all over FL. My son said I shouldn't give up hope completely & said he'd tell him how many laughs we got out of his promise. Maybe that'll jog his memory. I tried to tell the guy that he didn't have to do that, I already had a firearm but he insisted. We'll see. Personally I really don't care. He did enough when he & my son were on many of their deployments. I think it's a 3 to 3 tie for the times they saved each other's ass.

I really don't want to push any firearms issues with any of my Legislators. We finally got a concealed carry law as of last November, the 49th state to have one. A Republican Governor & State Legislature saw to that. We also have Castle Doctrine & stand your ground. Vets only have to submit their DD 214s for proof of training & the license costs $50 including the $13 background check & it's good for 5 years. The school firearms ban includes our church because our school is attached. Our Pastors & school principal checked into it & asked for a waiver but it was a no-go. There are quite a few of us in the congregation with a CCL.

Good luck at Airborne School & ARSOF, Sir!

Coming from NYS, that sounds out-effing-standing, MSG. Do retirees qualify for the Glock LEO/Mil discount? I know AD Soldiers get a pretty significant one for new Glock products. I've definitely got a few of them on the list.

And yes, the two most valuable words from here on out - "yes, dear" LOL!

You've got the words down pat, Sir! That's all you need (besides not forgetting her birthday, anniversary, Valentine's day, etc.) to assure that you'll continue to be the recipient of connubial rights.

I don't know if Glock gives the military break to retirees. My original Glock was bought at Streicher's Police HQ when I was doing armed security. I got a little off the list price on top of the fact that it was "Glock Day" when everything Glock was cheaper. I also got the Megprolite night sites, a larger slide stop & mag release which was thrown in with a Glock Day purchase ($90 value ). I don't know if my status as a retiree or as a security officer had anything to do with the further discount. Streicher's no longer handles Glock. Their main guns now are M&P as those are the ones the Milwaukee PD are issued now in .40 cal. I think Glock took exception to that & dropped them. I've heard several stories from the salesmen there. The gun I now have is supposed to be just as reliable as Glock but I don't have a whole lot of rounds through it yet. So far so good. It's shot everything I've put through it - FMJ "target" rounds & several kinds of hollow points, Speer Gold Dot & Federal Tactical HST which the PD uses. The price of ammo has shot up in price the last week. A box of HSTs could be bought for $21 for 50 & now they're up to $30. Gold Dots sell for a buck a round. I bought a box of 20 for SD carry use & it cost $20. Needless to say that I only shot a few to make sure they fed & ejected properly. Since I have 14 round mags a box doesn't even cover a reload.

Kudos to your sons buddy for the offer though, not everybody does that..
