There are some things I like about the ACU though in terms of design. Shoulder pockets that are accessible when wearing IBA/IOTVs for instance. Also, I like the calf pockets and slanted chest pockets. Initially I liked the hook & loop cargo pockets but I think everyone can/will agree that they just don't last as they lose their attaching capabilities.

The uniform will remain the same; its the camo that will reside on top of it.

But they should change many aspects of it. Make the pockets button; scrap the velcro and even on the sleeves. Put the ranks back on the collar and bring the officer branch insignia back. If they make such a stink about whose who in regards to infantry and AG, then put one general type of insignia. But bring back the Rising Eagle for Warrants.

Also, why the cut of the ACU is so poor that it looks like crap with soldiers with great bodies like myself lol

You can throw on MARPAT on a skinny Marine and he would look good. They have to get rid of the useless mandarin collar.

Very true to all of the above. I do like the thin-ness of the uniform though, it helps to breathe a little better than the thicker BDU, although it tears more easily

    Have you ever wore FRACs?

Our multi-cam comes with sticky spoon/iron-on type patches in our pockets. I have used a couple thus far on my deployment uniforms due to my pants easily getting torn.

No I haven't even heard of FRACs lol. Nevertheless the camouflage needs to change drastically. I've heard that that ACU was initially a pattern to be used for vehicles and/or cammo netting? Is this true? I think something like the MARPAT would be fine but the Marines would probably throw a fit over it. Multi-cam is good too, I have half a mind to go out and get a set myself but I'll just wait until issued some.

FRACUs are flame retardant ACUs. They look nice when you first get them then after a few washes, they are like paper mache.

Oh! You know what, I think I got issued some of those at BCT, they were a little rougher to the touch than all of my other ones and they were pretty much un-wearable after I washed them a few times, but then again that could've been the ancient washing machines...

I thought they are only for deployed soldiers since they have permethrin to keep those nasty bugs off of us. Plus we have to take those malaria pills.

Also, we could only wear them downrange but then an alaract came out that said we could now wear them in garrison saving money on uniform costs.

Amen to that! Every time I see someone in any of the new Army uniforms I cringe, especially the Class A's. I know most people did not like the 'pickle suits' but they sure seemed to have a better cut. There was an Army Sgt. singing the National Anthem at the ballgame this week and I couldn't tell if he was just a really large and buff guy or totally out of shape...the Class A made him look horribly tubby. I am usually not such a fashionista but it kills me every time I see what should be a sharp uniform looking sloppy by design...especially standing next to a Marine!
