My husband graduated in Sept. He said, the first ruck march is done at the instructors pace, the second has to be completed within 3 hours. You have to do five & dimes (5 push ups/ten pull ups) with all your gear on any time you exit or enter the gate (breaks, lunch, etc). Attention to detail is a MUST, mistakes run 5-15 points per offesne, although they allow you to work some off at the end of the day by helping out with stuff. Make sure all your gear is serviceable. Look through your wet weather bag into the sun, if you can see light it needs to be corrected (my husband used duct tape) they will deduct points...40 points and you're out. Oh yeah and while you're getting smoked don't try and push the rocks out from under your hands, "they were there before you arrived and they'll be here after you leave" LOL

Any advise as to what boots to go with? I hear they're pretty strict: i.e. no Nike boots, no Oakley boots, no Rocky's etc. You obviously can't go wrong with issued boots though I don't think my pair are considered "serviceable"

My husband wore his Rocky's unless they were fast roping, you will burn right through them.

I went through it when we were still wearing black boots and I got my jungle boots resoled and they were great. The boots that we wear now and days are like sneakers compared to before. My buddy was a fool and did his ruck marches in his cochrans and messed up his feet. I think the ripple soles that you get at the "clothing and sales" lol are good to go.

Wow, his legs must of been super tight against that rope. Lone, you just put the insides of the boot close to the soles when fast-roping. Worry more about your hands burning then feeling the heat on your legs for 10 seconds. Its a one-try event that you race against the other stick, so dont sweat it.

Begin rant - grammar police in the house...

    'Nowadays' not 'now and days'
    'Corcoran' boots not ''Cochran'
'Military Clothing Sales Store' not 'Clothing and Sales'
'must have been' not 'must of been'
