    Default Registration change?

This is just a random thought and since I'm not familiar with vBulletin I don't know if this is even possible. Is there a way to set up new member registrations so that mods/admins have to approve the account? Maybe put a little text box in the registration form that requires you to answer a question also? Something similar to a Captcha but instead just an additional required question.

Something as simple as "Type in any two colors."

That way when the registration comes through that's not something these bots can just auto-fill.

Again, just a suggestion and I'm not sure if it's entirely possible. I can only imagine the frustration you guys go through every time you log on. Especially those mods that can only come out every couple of days for a very limited amount of time.

You must of read my mind because I suggested that to our admin weeks ago. Also, at the time of your post, I staff message our admin again and hopefully he can patch the computer that hosts this website. I know its frustrating to post or attract members to this website when its being swamped non-stop by spammers. There is an obvious hole in the system.

You mean you guys don't like reading in other languages?
TANKER - That dusty, crusty, grease-covered, dirty, sweaty, bright-eyed, fuzzie-faced,
    haircut-needing, beer-drinking, underrated, over-worked, underpaid,
oversexed, little shit, who can take a tank and do more battlefield damage in
ten minutes than a Grunt squad can do all day.

If you ain't Armor, you ain't shit.

Unfortunately there is really no hole in the system. This is a problem that can be solved through different plugins available for vbulletin. I have 4 vbulletins licenses muyself and ran into this issue quite often.

The best one is to offer recaptcha on all new registrations and also on the first 10 posts. Once the ten posts are don then that NEW USER is considered a "trusted member".

Once I implemented this on my sites I never ran into bot spammers. There is always the human spammer who will get the 10 posts and the shoot the spam on us. By then you should know if he/she is a spammer and is easy to ip ban and also username ban.

I have offered my help on tunning this site to the admin before but had no answer.
