Default Am I the only one?

Am I the only one or has this become like a complete censored, dictator ran forum. I mean no disrespect to the Moderator, he is doing what he thinks its right to keep the forum clean, etc but come on closing a thread b/c ONE person made a "bad" comment, making "sticky" threads no one can reply to b/c they are closed, it was better before in my opinion, I hardly come in here anymore, I rather go back to armystudyguide.com forum or not go into any at all.

Hopefully this doesnt get closed down before anybody gets a chance to reply.

Actually i believe that was the thread i closed and made a sticky. The stickies were made to be a reference only and not a place for discussion.

So if thats the reason why your opinion of the forum is dictator ran, i would be the admin solely responsible.

The staff and myself are making improvements to Af.com which would involve some new changes around here all in the hopes to keep this forum (clean) and provide a rich source of information for its member.

If thats not the type of community you would like to be a part of im sorry.

^^ Actually it is waht I discussed in our "staff" forum (warning). I closed the thread yesterday.

The thread in question has went "full circle" the OP answerred the final reply. The OP has not contacted me with problem with his thread being closed. I sent him a PM informing him of it's closure and to let me know if he needed any further replys to his question.

MP- When threads go "full circle" or start getting off topic or thread jacked to a point of no return they get closed. A closed thread is not necessarilly a bad thing. It is still located in the forums or once populated go into the "historical threads" for anyone using the search feature to find later.

In the case you are speaking the topic has went "full circle".

i know what thread is being mentioned because i went to reply, but couldn't. at first i thought the poster that was warned was either being sarcastic or completly contradicting himself before i realized that someone else added the warnning to the members post lol. i understand where MP is comming from because it seems not a day goes by the there isn't an edit, closed thread, or warnning and it gives the impression that there is too much control given over each members first amendment rights. i understand if you join a forum you accept sertain rules just like you do when you join the army and if i remember correctly the forums main rule is INTEGRITY. but can we ease back a bit guys. even if an OP's question has gone full circle some of us may like to add our two cents, agree with another member, or compare the situation to a personal event (and i rather enjoy reading those stories). we are all adults here (or near it) we can understand the difference between good and bad advice and should also be able to hear from both sides as to why they gave that advice in order to research further and make an educated choice regardless of what the morals are behinde each person giving that advice.

just my two cents and i'm interested in hearing other opinions, so lets keep this active even though both sides have stated a view to the OP and the conversation wont warrant any NEW ideas.

^^ There is a difference between "bad advice" and "illegal advice". If you read the thread pertaining to lying/ cheating you would know where the Webmaster (owner), Army, USMC, USAF, Navy and all branches stand.

There have only been 3 threads closed due to the reasons within the subject. The other threads that have been closed recently were threads that were "Spam Solicitations" or "Unauthorized Sales or Promotions".

As covered previously, "sticky threads" are thread containg info that are important and that all members would find very helpful. They are not created for participation, however if something needs to be addressed a quick PM to Mods with comments or sugguestions would help.

If anyone has a thread that starts out as a normal thread and is very informative it can be made a "sticky thread" and left open for comments or closed. Some forums close all stickys and cut it back to the main topic, some leave it open, it depends on the topic.

A Moderators function is to keep the peace, keep it clean, keep it legal and close/ purge threads as needed/ required. Even though it is not mandatory when I close a thread that is a clean legit topic I notify the OP, in that notification I inform them of why it was closed and ask them if they were satisfied with the outcome.

Nobody likes Moderators when they are doing their job, but I also help everyone that posts a subject that I can post an answer that follows the above quidlines. I will not compromise my Integrity or the Integrity of the Owner.

i understand what you and the webmaster is doing and since this is not my forum i will comply with all the rules. however, i dont recall seeing illegal advice on the forum. the only person i know of that can not legally advise someone to lie for gain withing the military our people that have taken a position within the military that has that rule applied to them such as recruiters.

although i would not tell someone that they SHOULD lie it would not be illegal for me to do so just like its not illegal for me to say what i would do in that situation. for example, being in collections i can not legally tell someone they should commit a crime like robbing a bank to pay their bills, but if i was on a forum talking on the subject i can tell them anything i want and it would be nothing more than bad advice. so yes there is a difference but unless you have currently bonified recruiters telling members on the forum they SHOULD lie, which i dont recall, then i havn't seen anything illegal and think all should be able to post their bad advice for the simple fact that on some issues bad advice when pointed out can sometimes spark healthy discussion that leads to a middle ground if there is a possible middle ground.

like i said above its not my forum so if you wish not to allow that i will respect the choice and refrain from giving advice that might be considered as bad OR illegal and i'll also admitt that the threads being closed have not been rediculous in number and all seem to have the same root subject matter that has currently become somewhat of an issue with the forum that will likely dwindle soon.

also, i recognize the valuble info that you provide as a member, especially since most of it is in reply to my questions lol. since i only wished to address my opinion on the difference between illegal advice and bad advice, even if it may be simular to your own, i will stop beating a dead horse and the the issues on the integrity of the post within the forum die.

i think this one is done and can't go any further, you may close it now to prevent it from going off topic (no sarcasm intended)
